Mäpt Nyap-ilk (/njap/ /ilk/ [cream] [country (nation); state (province; country)]) is a temperate Small Town located in the Whïzdisg Principality of the City-state of Yastas.
The name Mäpt Nyap-ilk is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Nyap-ilk was founded by Gadshëm vyim Rovuldtems, who was culturaly Gnollish.
Climate
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a yearly average temperature of 0°C (32°F), with its average temperature during the summer being an icy 22°C (71°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool -23°C (-9°F). Mäpt Nyap-ilk receives an average of 154 cm/y (60 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Nyap-ilk covers an area of nearly 3 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 7622 m (-17943 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Mäpt Nyap-ilk was founded durring the early 12th century in spring of the year 1149, by Gadshëm vyim Rovuldtems. The establishment of Mäpt Nyap-ilk was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Mäpt Nyap-ilk's construction back out of the project. Gadshëm vyim Rovuldtems pushed on reguardles, and Mäpt Nyap-ilk was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Nyap-ilk is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk is was constructed arround several broad cobblestone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. Mäpt Nyap-ilk's would-be-castle fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Mäpt Nyap-ilk’s streets.
Civic Infrastructure
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mäpt Nyap-ilk.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Nyap-ilk's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Cultural Notes
Mäpt Nyap-ilk's locals are divided into several castes. They may be organized by social role, by imputed nobility of birth, by ethnic origins, or any other dividing principle, but they cannot imagine any other way of organizing themselves. A hierarchy of castes is not inevitable, but there will be social and legal limits applied to ensure that each caste remains fixed in its function. The outside world may or may not respect these distinctions when dealing with the locals.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is which made use of the classical orders and mathematically precise ratios of height and width combined with a desire for symmetry, proportion, and harmony. It used columns, pediments, arches and domes are imaginatively in buildings of all types. Decorative features were seen as largely unnecessary as the sheer beauty of the structure itself was often close to art. However, many buildings with large ceiling spaces had their ceilings decorated with elaborate paintings, simply because the large flat spaces could feel wasted.
In Mäpt Nyap-ilk rain occurs in reverse with water pooling up from the earth then falling into the skies to from clouds, this unsettles every visitor that sees it.
The Sandman near Mäpt Nyap-ilk are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.
Mäpt Nyap-ilk's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves ritual combat to channel Charm energies of tier 2 via oratory performances.
Economy
